Cross Stitching Project and A Few Tips

Time to start on a new cross stitch venture and the wonderful thing is that there are so many amazing things to choose from. I have done many larger items so think it's time to consider a more medium size project. Think I'll cross stitch a sweatshirt and maybe keep this one for myself. That would be a change- I usually like to give them away and they are always so well received. It's great to sit out on the porch in the late afternoon and stitch away. Keeps your hands busy while your thoughts roam.

For you beginners out there don't forget that you can teach your children to work on a simple project as well. Just get them a simple pattern that they like, some plastic canvas, a big needle and wool and let them go to it.You can see more information at my website http://www.crossstitchholidays.com

Cross Stitch? Who Me?

Yes you too can cross stitch a work of art!

With little or no training and a good pattern, you can create a masterpiece that will thrill your grandkids for years and years.

Did you ever think about YOU creating an ADVENT CALENDER? Can you see your grandchildren using this for many years to come? Even being passed down to their children? You can do this--- yes you can.

Reds and greens and whites and so many other colors will make your creation special! I have done these and my grandkids love them.

They are easy and fun- They are unique.- They are interesting. And you can make this happen.

When you select a kit, simply pick the picture you like. Then get to work. In a few days, you will think (or more appropriately, your kids or grandchildren) that you are a genius- a virtuoso. They probably won't believe that you did this. But you will know and your pride will really show. Friends and family will want to know how you did it.

Let me show you how!

The easiest cross stitch kit is the stamped version. You simply color co-ordinate your thread color to that stamped on the material. Follow the easy instructions and start creating art.

The counted cross is slightly more involved- but here is how you do it:

First: You select a prepackaged kit that contains your material, pattern and thread. The first part of your preparation should be to sort the thread into colors using their code.

Second: Make sure that your material is flat. You may have to press it a bit if it has too many folds.

Third: The pattern will show you where to start. Usually this is the middle stitch of your material.

Fourth: Thread your needle with the appropriate colored thread as indicated on the pattern.

Fifth: Start cross stitching.

That's all there is to it. In only a very few stitches the pattern will begin to unfold and you will be eager to keep going to see what appears next.

When you see how easy this is you will not want to put it down. And you'll want to finish it quickly so that you can start on your next cross stitch masterpiece.
